Hi, I’m Samantha Sommerfield and I’m a lover of all things media from Winnipeg, MB.

I am a graduate of the Joint Communications program with Red River College and the University of Winnipeg. While my diploma from Red River College says “Creative Communications” I majored in media production. My degree from the University of Winnipeg is a 4 year Bachelor of Arts with a focus in the Rhetoric, Writing, and Communications department.

I always knew I would be a part of the communications field in some way. Creating something that people can watch, read or listen to is a passion of mine. I love being able to tell stories and create an escape for people or inspire them in some way. My ultimate goal is to create connections with people.

I am a “behind the scenes” type of girl. 

As mentioned before, in the Creative Communications program I majored in media production but I also learnt in areas of journalism, advertising and public relations.

I have produced and shot live productions of many Red River Rebels’ sporting events. 

I have produced a short film, a silent film, a couple montages, a Winnipeg Foundation PSA, and a promotional video for Studio One School of Performing Arts.

I have also built a live newscast from scratch each Thursday of my second year at Red River College called RRC-TV. Where I excelled at being VTR and house video edit.

I also helped my classmates produce a 9 hour telethon for The Winnipeg Humane Society. Where we exceeded our expectations and raised over $70,000.

Now out of school I focus on connecting with every Winnipegger at my current job at Bell Media Radio. I am a part of a team who operates the social media accounts for 103.1 Virgin Radio, 99.9 BOB FM, and TSN1290.
